Hello you might remember me a couple weeks ago when i had 8 baby dwarf hamsters delivered in my cage unexpectedly!!!

Thing is they are now 6 weeks old and i can't find homes for them!! i have tried different pet shops three times over and they said they are too full to bursting in taking them in.

So i need ideas people

I be going to college in september to study BTEC National Diploma in Animal Management. Where i be surrounding with small animals. I can't wait i'm sooo excited!!!

Somehow i don't think they will survive the flight over. But thanks any way.

Anyone interested i'm selling them at £5 a hamster and i currently have 6 boys and 2 girls.

Nice kind homes only!!!!

Email me at [email protected]

They are 6 weeks as at Thursday 24th June 2004

Just a couple of thoughts

advertise in your local vets
do you know anyone with primary school children? if so ask them to spread the word around school :D

I really do not think that asking around primary schools would provide first rate homes for the babies. Children and Russian hamsters don't get on. Russian hamsters are fast and they nip, where children will hold onto them with squeezing, hot hands. Please don't sell them to someone with young children.

Thanks for all your advice, I did not know that my hamster was pregnant until she delivered. I checked with the petshop they said that they would take them in once the were 6 weeks old but now they are at that age they are rammed with baby hamsters so i'm stuck!!

Guess i keep the little guys and girls until i find homes for them.

Good Luck finding homes, bigfish  I think you're doing an excellent job

where dose it say in this post "russian hamster"?

it says dwarf, granted I am not an expert on hamsters but as a kid I had loads of them and gerbils I even had a jird all whilst at primary school!

and I did not say "ask around primary schools" If you read my post correctly, it says do you know anyone with primary school children? if so get them to spread the word.

primary school kids have older brothers and sisters that may want one. they also have lots of older family members; cousins, aunts, uncles etc that may want one.

I take offence at the suggestion made by you that I would encourage anyone to go into a primary school "selling hamsters". I firmly belive that if you do not have any legitimate reason for entering the premisis of any school then you should not do so.!

Daino2004 was that last post directed at me, i certainly wouldn't go in any primary school selling my hamsters!!

I will run a poster in a few newsagents and see what happens.

They are quite fast if your not supervising them at all times, i sometimes let my other hamster Jeallybean run around on my bed, she enjoys nibbing on my duvet cover

Bubbles tends to nibble at you if your not careful but doesn't hurt, he used to do that alot to my boyfriend coz he didn't like him!! :D

Munchkin is the mum of all 8 babies and she done a brill job of producing and raising all 8. At the moment she is living with her two daughters and seems to be getting her shape back by doing her 8 mile run on the wheel :hyper:

In my experience, dwarf hamsters are actually called either Chinese, Russian or roborovski, and russian is the most common. So I don't know where your little dig came from.

The way I said my own post was that small pets and children do not mix. And it wasn't even advised to you, it was advised to bigfish who is the person in question.

I'm just saying that young children shouldn't be allowed pets, no matter how many you had while at primary school.

Now that's a personal opinion and IMO they should becuase it teaches them a lot about love, responsability and the life cycle. I pity your children, if you have or ever have any :(

Edit to bigfish
sorry to post hijack
good luck with finding a home for the littleones :)

IMO they shouldnt. Ive lost count of the amount of times I have been at work in the LPS and people bring back hamsters they dont want becuase their kid got bored of it. Or animals which have been mistreated by the children and the customer wants a different one. I even had one where the kid left the door open and introduced their gerbils to the cat. I agree they should have dogs but not little animals or cats that can be pissed off or dragged about by their front paws which I have seen happen too.
