hi everyone,

i started out with SIX ghost shrimps, they were kept in a litlte container for a day before i moved them into my big tank. Yesterday, i found ap regnant female EATING ONE OF THE OTHER SHRIMPS. ahhhhhh

and today, they're now in the nice big 25G complete with plants nad rock s(just no fish yet), and i find yeter ANOTHER SHRIMP EATING ANOTHER SHRIMPS

i'ts driving me nuts...why are they eatig each other :X i thought they were peaceful!!! :-( i dropped in some fish food and let it sink to teh bottom hoping that they'll go after the food rather than another one of thier own kind..

*sniffles*

i'm afraid to add my female bettas in, scared that my chiatoic shrimps are gonan go after them next :X

Could they have been dead already? They tend not to go for live things as far as I know... but they're all over the dead stuff.

If they died on their own you want the other ones to eat them... helps them get the nutrients they need to survive when they molt.

i gotta admit i ddi'nt SEE them kill the live shrimps..but i'd assume that they were alive becuase the shrimps seemed perfectly healthy this morning before i went off to school...came back adn i saw them nibbling on a dead shrimp :/ would it be alright if i add my fish? would the shrimps attack them too?

One possibility is the eaten one had molted. Their shells are soft and are perfect targets for just about anything else, including other shrimp, to eat.
