Can You Identify This Specie?

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could please identify this specie for me. It's about 10cm in length and very shy. It hides all the time and will only come out to eat. It's in a marine tank.

I don't think it's a goby. The reason I say this is that it's got a long snake like body (most of it is hidden behind the rocks in the picture). I thought it might be an eel, but it's got a round mouth & head and not the characteristic pointy mouth of an eel. I wish I could get a better picture, but they are so shy and hides as soon as they see me approach!

its an adult convict blenny, i have 1 myself. mint little guys that like to dig under rocks.

Never seen a color morph exactly like that but it does look like either a goby or blenny. Either way, most like to make homes in rock caves and only come out to eat. This is a natural behavior for many species of goby/blenny

Close, everyone, but no cigar.

It is neither a Goby nor a Blenny; it is taxed (?) in a monotypic family, but I can't remember the name of it.

Common names include Engineer "Goby" and Engineer "Blenny"; 'Engineer' because they supposedly topple rock formations.

I will certainly have to see about getting me a couple of those when my new setup goes up

The juveniles of this species mimic the venomous Coral Catfish in appearance and habit.
