Can You Identify This Fish For Me?

my brother gave me it because it was given to him and his cichlids were gonna just kill him. it looks sorta like a clown bard to me but i don't think it is and i wanna know so i can find out if it needs a school or not.
if anyone knows what it is please tell me, i can do the rest of the research my self. thank you.

that fish is a long finned barb or Puntius tambraparniei. they arent often available at lfs and should be kept in as bigger group as possible like most barbs. it will reach about 4-4.5 inches in length and prefers faster flowing water. i have a group of 8 in one of my tanks, beautifull fish

yeah i thought it would be a schooling fish. do you know how much they cost normally?
i'm expecting more considering i've never seen one before

They need cool water too- 23C ideally
Looking at your current stock, I'd sort it out before adding more fish-you are already overstocked

they arent the cheapest of barbs, mine were labelled up at about £8 each if i remember right but got a good deal on a group of 8.

mine are fine at 26oC and are currently living with Keith my oscar without any issues.
