Can You Have Corys With Gravel?

I've 8 tanks with Corys. Some with poolfiltersand (fine and middle) and some with gravel (oldest tanks). They like digging in the sand, but the other at the gravel are perfectly allright for 6 years. Noticed the ones that I adopted from tanks with gravel had the longest barbels I've ever seen.
No complains from my fish as well !!
