Can water spangles and other floating plants survive bleach

Hi,

I'm planning to get some floating plants like water spangles or frogbit. I just lost several fish to ich and have found what might be a leech in my aquarium before. So I'm nervous about buying new live plants that could be bringing along harmful hitchhikers. I don't really have a quarantine tank so I'm not sure how I'd keep them alive for a month without lighting.

Can they survive a quick bleach dip? Or is there another way to kill off the pests before adding them to my tank?

It all depends on dilution ratio and time they spent in bleach.... and also why did they "bath" in it.

Ok, I've heard 30 seconds or 2 minutes but no more for some plants is fine.

Maybe 30 sec in 50% bleach 50% water.
2 min will be harmful.
I personnaly never use bleach but "potassium alum".

I think the 2 minutes was for a 1/20 bleach solution, not 50/50. I could try alum though. How do you use that?

A bucket, 1 level tsp of potassium alum powder per warm (95°F) litre of water. Immerse plants, let them bath for minimum 1 hour or better till water lowers to room temp. Rinse carefully and plant.
