hi there im now going to look at a shovelnose catfish iv got 2 10in oscars and 3 12in plecos do u think thay wilall get on ok...i have a 6x2x2 tank with a 2028eheim ex filter and a 600lph inturnel +powerheads

unless you really are going to do that heated pond then forget it!!

you could comfotable keep 1 in there until it reached aorund 20" but after that the tank would be too small really, they grow very fast.

in 3 months i had 1 at 3" then grew to 14" in that small time.

How about Lima shovelnoses? they max out at around 18" I think, but need company of their own kind.

whoops sorry about that, i was on about the tiger shovel nose, the most common out there.

a lima should do well in there but like your arowana question your going to have problems introducing new fish with your 2 oscars.

another smaller shovel nose is the spotted shovelnose- hemosorubin platyyichys, these are quite hard to come by and tend to cost aorund £60 it seems at the moment, thats for usually a 4" fish.

iv been out and got a Lima shovelnoses and it only cost £20 its about 7" the oscars have not boutherd with him yet
