Can This Be Changed?

i was reading my tanks hood manual nd it says for 24" hood(which i have), use T8 or T12 tubular daylight fluorescent lamps rated "15 watt" maximum.

does that mean i cant get better lights

You would have to switch out the entire fixture, not just the bulbs. Watch what the rest of the hood is made of, higher wattage generally means more heat. Melted plastic smells bad, smells even worse if it starts on fire.

This is the favorite mod for adding more light to juwel, and would probably work on other aquariums to.

as you can see in these pics my lighting fixture is attached to a seperate piece which is not connected to the hood directly it sits on top of a glass piece on the hood

here it is sitting on the hood how its supposed to be

You could get more light in, by taking out the exsisting tube and fitment and replacing it with a power compact, and double your light.
