hi
as anyone heard of a agressive attacking plecostomus, ive had him about 3 months he was a wee baby when i got him,and hes fed regulary on algae wafers and he cleans up from the glass and the blood word off the bottom, but all of a sudden today hes starting attacking anything that goes near him,the red tailed shark, the other new baby plec and if the red tail shark goes near him he,ll chase it about for about 3 minutes, anything that goes near him really gets chased by a very angry plec,,hes great with me though when i go to the tank he swims to the glass and i can hand feed him algae wafers and stroke him and everything, everything in the tank is perfect ph,nitrite, nitrate, ammonia, oxygen, plase ayone any suggestions can this hurt my fish
thanks in advance

RTS and Pl*cs for some reason don't get along. Well atleast mine don't and someone else I talked to about them. I have 2 Pl*cs in my 55g right now till hopefuly this weekend one will be in a new home, they are the same L# and bought on the same day from same tank. For about 6 months they never had a problem till one day they started fighting each other. Alot of places I have read says that they like to be alone (just one in a tank). I have known and seen lots of people have many of the same and different ones in there tanks. But like I always say every tank is different.

Plecs are territorial. I have two now, one could care less about the other. But the other chases him around the tank. It also has to do with personalities.

Does the Pleco have a brown body with tan-yellow vertical stripes? If so, I have one just like it. I named him Krusty because of his attitude. He never attacks the other fish, but he chases them away. I have a piece of rock in my tank that is like a cave. He likes the dark and only comes out when it is feeding time. When he gets his piece of food, IT IS HIS. If another fish gets near him he jerks and scares them away. Plecos don't hurt other fish unless they are very large though. I don't think you have a much of a problem, just a fish that doesn't like to be bothered.

Hi dolly_daydream :)

I will move your thread to Catfish Cradle where it will be seen by more pleco keepers than will see it here. Perhaps you will get more responses. :D
