If you can not do these things then just tidy up a bit.
First off hide the seat thing. (the thing I put an "X" over) Or at least don't have it out in the middle of the floor.
Second, all the things that are circled need to be put away. Wires/cords laying around everywhere just don't look good. Roll them up and/or twist tie them to look neater. The CDs that are out of cases need to find a home, and the movies/games/CDs that are out on top of the electronics need to find another home also.
If you just do those few things your room would look 100 times better! (not that it looks really bad now or anything, because it doesn't!)
I have two kids, two dogs, a cat and fish along with my husband and myself all in a tiny 850 sq ft home that we have been in for 9 years! If I don't stay organized I would be run over with junk!! I found the best rule to be if you don't use it often ... put it away! If you get some storage totes (the plastic kind) and put things in them it is not too hard to get to when you need things, but are also put away out of sight so it always looks tidier.
My computer desk is always a nightmare and I have actually thought about putting it in storage until we sell this house. At first I thought I could not live with out it, but having no power for three days (thank you Ivan) I realized I can live without it. I am still thinking about it, so if you guys don't see me around for a while you will know why.
