Can Somebody Please Identify This Pleco?

what type of pleco is my pleco please? she was sold as a rubbernose pleco, but she doesnt look like one x

Sorry to say but its a common Rubberlips are grey and have a much wider flat head.

what type of common pleco? how big will she get? x sorry about asking all the questions, im fairly new

There are a few species known as 'common pleco' ( Hypostomus plecostomus, Hypostomus punctatus, Pterygoplichthys multiradiatus and Pterygoplichthys pardalis); yours looks like H. plecostomus.

It'll get to around 2 feet long, but they're also a very bulky fish; it'll be about the size of your forearm.

Hope you have a huge tank as that is going to be a big boy eventually If you do not have at least a 5 footer, I would think about rehoming, and maybe looking into a smaller species of plec.

yeah, when they get bigger, im gonna try get hold of an 8ft tank xx

Just be careful with that though. I do not know the growth rate of a common pleco, but if the 8ft tank you will hopefully get isn't in the near future, keeping him in a tank that is too small for too long can risk stunting. So keep an eye out. If he starts to get to big before you get a larger tank..

commons grow fast unless im mistaken i got mine when it was 4" and with in 4weeks she was 6" long! and agressive towards my other bottom dwellers and mid dwellers i would have loved to keep her but no room

i was also sold this under false accusations i was told it was a long finned bn and at that point she looked like one i miss her but it was for her own good that i rehomed her

aww bless xx yeah she (im saying its a she) is growing quick, if i do rehome her i wanna find someone who will treat her like a princess. I love her to pieces x
