hi all, I recently brought some new fish. I would like to do some potassium treatment before introduce them to my main tank, I got this potassium permangante powder I bought couple years back. can this thing go expire?

What does this do to treat your fish? Just wondering. Thanks

its used eliminated most of external parasite during qt, its the most efficient treatment when it comes to external parasite from my past discus keeping experience.

It doesn't go off, but I wouldn't use it; it's a bit old fashioned now, as it's very harsh and highly toxic. You're better off quarantining and treating for any parasites or disease if they occur.

It can go off. Depends how it's stored and what it's exposed to. It's a strong oxidising agent, so it will react with a lot of things, given the chance.

Sealed it should do well, but various suppliers quote 5 year shelf lives for the crystal format. If yours is a couple of years old only it should be fine, however I agree with Flutter, I'd try to avoid it unless you're particularly worried about a specific problem, in which case I'd target that particular problem.
