I have a bucket with pond snails in to feed my dwarf puffers. Obviously when feeding them, the snails will only be in for a couple of minutes before they get eaten lol :p
I hear that they soemtimes come in tanks on plants so they obviously survive at high temperatures
So is it okay if i put one in my DP thats cycling to get rid of some of the algae? Does people have them in there trop tanks?
Thanks

Ya you can, most people don't like them in their tanks because they multiple like crazy and become unsightly if not controlled. But your dp's will eat them once the tank is cycled.

I once took a plant from a lake I go fishing at, The plant done well in my tank but I also got brown snails which must have been on the plant, They multiplied like mad until I got a clown loach, Never got totaly rid of the snails though :)

They will, indeed, thrive in tropical tanks. I've had them survive up into the low 90s, at least for a short time, and they will do quite well for themselves in the mid 80s.

If you don't want the one to turn into hundreds (literally), put it in when it's as close to newly-hatched as you can. If it's old enough to breed and lay eggs then you're on your way to an infestation.

However, since you're planning on putting puffers in the tank later anyway, then maybe the more, the better. ;)

Cool, ill ut a medium sized one in to clear up a lil bit of algae and to have a few babies ready in the tank
Do you think theyd cycle the tank, well get the ammonia in there and see if it lowers?
