I built a stand for my 55G in the summer. Click here to see the thread on the plans and construction of my stand. I used a deck-treatment to stain the stand initially. I'm now about to move 2km away in a week and I want to paint the stand glossy black before I set it up at the new place. Right now it's hidden in a closet, but it's going to be front and centre at my new place. The stain I used is below. The 2x6's are all pine. I can't remember exactly hat type of wood the 2x4's or the 3/4" sanded plywood is. What type of paint would or wouldn't work overtop of the pre-existing single coat of deck stain, preferabbly in 1 or 2 coats without any primer or anything. K.I.S.S..... Any help is greatly appreciated!

Easy enough.... I think the stand will look quite sharp painted glossy black. For the 55G I plan on lining the side and back walls with aquarium-grade silicon and some sort of nice looking granite, slate, or marble tile (provided they test safe for aquatic use with muriatic acid). Instead of bare bottom I'm going to do black tahitian moon sand. This tank is destined to be a pleco tank, hopefully in the breeding capacity...

I've just sent an email inquiring about the cost of getting a tank custom made to fit the bottom of the stand once I'm in my new place. The open space on the bottom shelf is 45"L x 18 3/4"W x 19.5"H. I've asked for the price of a tank 44â€￾L x 18â€￾W x 13â€￾H. I'll build a small cupboard to sit beside the tank and hold any canister filters and air pumps, or I can put my 29G tank and stand beside it. The cupboard in that has lots of room for a few canister filters. I've kept a 10g tank in it for the last few years (with the doors off).
