Can I Put 2 Kribs In With My Angelfish?

The angelfish are babies, about 1" by 2". I was wondering I I could get some 2" kribs in with them? I have a 30gal aquarium. Please no comments about that's not big enough for angelfish, as I am only raising them in there, then I have a different aquarium for them

Sounds sufficient enough.

Also, the main concern when housing angelfish is the height of the tank more so than the volume. 18 inch or 45 cm tall is a good minimum height, and 20g or 80l for a single angelfish.

Well my tank that they are in now is 19" high. but as I said before I do have a bigger home for them once they grow bigger.

hi there,just bought a 4ft tank last week,i filled it with water last week and its ready to go,id just like to know can i mix a pair of german rams and a pair of kribs in the same tank,???

That would depend on if you have cycled the tank. Cycling isn't setting it up for a week, it involves adding ammonia and takes 6 to 8 weeks to complete. The rams are really finicky about water quality and thus should only be added to a mature and stable tank.

Sorry for the rushed reply above. Welcome to TFF! Hopefully you haven't bought fish yet as that would complicate things a bit. If you already have fish, that's ok but you are in for a load of work

Fishless cycling involves adding a measured amount of pure household ammonia to your water and letting nature take it's course. You must test your water during the cycling process to judge where you are and what is next. If you haven't already, there's alot of information located in our Beginners Resource Center found here

Fish-in cycling requires daily (sometimes 2 or 3 times a day) large waterchanges. You are aiming to keep your ammonia and nitrite levels below .25. More information is found in the link I provided above.

Whatever your choice is, the people here on this forum will be glad to help you get through this vital part of fishkeeping.

cheers! i just bought 4 rummie nosed tetras and 2 female guppys earlier today, i thought these would be hardy enough fish to get my tank going,didnt relise id have to cycle my tank!.so id have to go through the, in fish cycle.maybe im gonna have to have a rethink as to what to put in my tank.im keen to get some dwarf cichlids in there as dont want to have all live bearers etc, suggestions anyone??

I would suggest that you go get lots of dechlorinator and a good test kit now Bazzbeen. As DRobbyB said, it will be daily large water changes to keep those fish alive while cycling the tank. That kind of tough does not exist, it is like saying there are people tough enough to not need oxygen.

That really is not a good idea. The kribs will bully and possibly kill the angels. The long fins really seem to entice them. I would do one or the other. But not both.

could i not get away without doing the fish in cycle and then add the rams 6months down the line,are there any other dwarf cichlids that i could put in with having to do a fish in cycle???

i also forgot to add that i bought this fish tank second hand and had been used 2days b4 i bought it,same with the gravel which i just gave a quick rinse,will that of helped speed up the cycle process
