Can I mix 2 false perc clowns with a tomato clown?

I forgot to ask is it not possible to add another real tomato clown with the one I have or would they definitely kill one another?

Someone else will have to confirm this but I believe the answer is no to both. I'm fairly positive it's no on the first one but not so much on the second.

If I can't get any more clownfish then what would you suggest I do? It's a 55 gallon tank. Should I take the clown to the pet store and get a pair of tomatos? I really do like the tomato clown that I have. I have about 20 - 30 lbs of live rock, one crab, a snail and bunch of other stuff that I'd have to list here.

I'd like to add a yellow tang if you think they'd get a long? Oh I did add a fish the other day to my tank it's yellow purple I think it may be a dottyback but I'm not sure it cost 35 dollars. I wasn't able to find anything that came close to that price online but I found a few things that looked pretty similar. It seems that the clown and the mystery fish are getting along pretty well. I'll take some pictures and post it here.

I would add the yellow tang the last fish, they are pretty territorial and pretty bad when they see any other yellow tang in the same small tang. They really shound't bother the clowns though, i'll be buying a yellow tang this weekend...

I wouldn't keep a tang in anything under 75 gallons. I'm not exactly sure what you can keep with a pair of tomatoes but I'm setting up a 55 or 75 gallon tank and the fish I'm planning to get are:

2 common clowns
1 neon goby
1 purple firefish
1 royal gramma (might be the yellow and purple one you saw)
2 yellow corris wrasses (if I get the 55)
1 yellow tang (if I get the 75)

You can also add invertebrates and corals if you choose. Another fish that I wanted but couldn't get with the royal gramma is the blue assessor basslet. A good site for finding fish is peteducation.com, it helped me alot!

Good Luck! :D

I got a regal tang instead of the yellow tang a few weeks back, he is really cool guy. I might add a yellow tang or a coral beauty still as my last fishes... :)

That's so cool that you have a 240! I've always wanted a tank that big, I'm sure it's beautiful. Moorish idols and regal tangs are two of my favorite fish, I just don't have space to keep them. :-( Aslo waht kind of starfish? do you have any pictures? I'd love to see them

Here is a pic of the starfish, I totally forgot the name of it . Hopefully i'll get another one soon.

It does burry (?) it self under the gravel all the time, in the shop though it wasen't called a shifting startfish, but it does do that! :D

CRangelfishy21, thanks :D, i've really only just pile the rocks up so they dont fall and it looks nice too, I might think in maybe adding a little bit more.

Oh and the anenome has moved and has pretty much fully extended, it's huge :D

Yep, spanair you have a Sandsifter Starfish.
They spend most of their time under the sand hunting (they are voracious predators).

If you operate a DSB then DONT add one of these critters to it. They will polish off all sorts of helpful critters under the sand.... I have a Sandsifter in my tank but i dont run a deep sand base so i dont mind the sand being almost sterile of life.

Hey, you could add a yellow tang to a 55 gallon. I have one in mine that's doing spledidly. :D However, I would suggest making it one of your final fish in a 55. Tangs are easily stressed and prone to disease. Stress-causing agents would be adding or changing alot in your tank after getting the tang. You should have a tank for no shorter time than 6 months (probably with signs of coraline algae). 6 months is the standard age of a tank that is "mature", and you deffinately want that for a yellow tang. I have heard of horror stories of guys who didn't wait for the tang. Either water conditions weren't stable or whatever the case. His Yellow Tang got sick quick and quickly spread it to all the fish. They all died almost overnight.

As far as the clowns, if you love your tomato, stick with him. Don't get another. Tomatoes are VERY territorial and get more and more agressive the older they get. A full grown tomato can easily get to 5 or even 6". Mixing tomatoes and perculas is never a good idea. I've never ever seen it work, and usually the ones who suffer are the percs.

Keep the tomato and watch him for agression. You have plenty of places for him to claim as his home. Wait for the Tang if necessary. Don't mix clowns. My two cents. :flex:
