Right now our tank is mainly Tetras. We have Bleeding Hearts, Serpae (we are down to 2 and don't plan on adding more as I've heard they are nippers though ours have been fine), Phantom tetras, Pristella Tetras, and Diamond Tetras. In addition to the tetras we have Cherry Barbs, Harlequin Rasboras, and a BN pleco. We would also like to get two Angelfish, and I want a group of Cory cats (my dad doesn't like catfish but I do so we'll see who wins). The tank is a 55 gallon.

I know NOTHING about killifish, which is why I am posting. I was looking on the website of the fish store we plan on buying from (have not been there before) and saw they sell these fish, which I have not seen at any other store around here. They were some of the prettiest freshwater fish I'd ever seen. So I was wondering if there were any species of Killifish I could have in my tank. If not which species of mine are the problem (I'm low on numbers in a lot so there is the possibility I just won't get more of certain ones). I want to go to the store prepared and not just take the word of the guy working there on what will and will not work in our tank, because for all I know they just want to sell the fish and make money.

So will anything work?

Golden wonder killifish are gorgeous and are the only killifish I've seen in a shop. (Maidenhead)

Killifish are quite complicated if you just want a pretty show-tank rather than a hobby, so I'd go with them.

Apparently they arent great with small fish as they have wide mouths and will try to each small fish when hungry. (This is what I've read)

I'm planning on getting some. I have neons and Carindal that are quite large now and I'm regular with my feeding times so I think I'll be ok.

I have 6 Golden Wonders in my tank that also has 4 dif types of tetra and they don't harrass or try to chase anything at all - this is only my experience though not sure on other killi

I dont mean to sound alarmist but please be aware of Aplochelius lineatus, both wild and it's colour morphs. This fish is a predator in every sense of the word. Nice when a juvenile but can wreak havoc on a small tetra shoal once full grown (100mm).
Again what species of Kilifish are available locally.
