Can I Get Pygmy Corys?

i went up to maidenhead aquatics, but they only had pandas, bronzes, trilinatus (or however you spell it), no pygmys at all.

Cat,

Went up to Crews Hill today. Maidenhead Aquatics has some some pygmaeus in stock. You must have missed them since they were in a mixed tank with some Forktail rainbows and Yellow Phantoms, whatever they are  They sell the pygmaeus at £10 for 6. Maybe you can try there again this weekend.

Ian,

Nice picture you have there. Are those a male/female pair of the same age? such different in size.

would hasbrosus mix with pygmaeus? seeing as i already have 2 hasbrosus now.

oh and Ian, i live in Camden :)

I don't know since I only have hasbrousus  but I think they might not school together since they have slightly different habits. Pygmaeus swims more mid-level and hasbrousus are more bottom swimmers I think.... I'm sure someone can give us some advice here. ^_^

They won't school together as they are different species, and indeed inhabit different parts of the tanks. That's not to say in a large enough tank, 4 of each can't be kept. In a tank your size I'd say one or the other.

3 - 2 - 1 :(
i'm now down to 1 hasbrosus
i don't know what happened, the other seemed fine this morning, but i just did a water change and i found a little cory body :(
i will go up to wildwoods this weekend and see if they have any more left

Im sorry to hear about your losses. So there wasnt any signs as to why they died? Could of just been the stress of transportation and things related to moving to a new tank? Sorry to hear about your loss :(

the first loss, he was sick before i even got him out the bag, had a crooked spine and didn't move much. :(
the second one, no sign whatsoever! he had been in the tank a week and active. his body looked healthy too, no outward signs of anything untoward, and the remaining one seems happy enough snuffling around and ate last night.

bafflement :(

Sorry to hear about your losses :( Perhaps you can try 6 Pygmaeus from Maidenhead Aquatics instead this time. MA stock is generally pretty good, especially if they have been in their tank for so long already. Also, tell them you are travelling far so they can provide adequate air & insulation. Travelling within London is really bad. It's not even that far distance-wise from your area to Crews Hill but it takes so long due to stupid traffic. Good Luck.
