i changed my substrait pretty much the same way but with 160l of water to store while i did it i was a little lost till i realized that a £10 plastic bin from b&q etc etc will hold 80l so 2 of those to transfer the water into, one with the heater & the fish in, then the other when syphoning the water into the 2nd bin i sucked up as much gravel as poss (saves me routing around scratching glass to get the bulk of the fravel out) i knew this would make that water a little murky so connected the filter to this bin to help the water clear up. i then put the sand which i had rinsed for all of 5 mins (more like sand into a bucket fill with water swirl 4x drain water and put sand in tank making it all nice and level) then put most of the water from 1st bin with fish in into the tank leaving enough for the little guys in the bottom of the bin while i xfered the 2nd bins water back to the tank. re cnnected heater and filter then added fish and topped up with a litte fresh water to a slightly cloudy tank, when i woke up te next morning everything had settled and the filter had done its job and the tank was nice n clear.
1 week later i found out that not only did i have some nice fish but they were great landscapers too !!! esprcially the kribs they have moved the sbstrate around left right and centre, its funny watching them both pop out the side of a log, take a quick look around and spit the sand out then dive back in and suck up more sand. if i didnt know better i would have thought they were trying to make a prison break by tunneling their way out and disposing of the dug up sand outside while no one was looking. i wish i could hire a landscaper that did as much as they do and as well.
