can bettas go in comunity tanks?

I have a 5g tank with a male betta and 1 male molly and 2 female mollies they are doing fine together. Plus I have 10 fry in a breeder net. I am working on getting a 55g tank right now

I had bettas and mollies in the same tank and haven't had any problems. But, now I'm so obsessed with bettas I'm selling most of my mollies to make more room. Unfortunately bettas have very individual personalities so you never can tell whether they'll be peaceful or aggressive, I just got lucky I guess.

I think a lot of it depnds on the personalities and relative sizes of the fish. Ihave three bettas. I keep the shy one in the community tank, the others are separate. My dwarf gourami don't seem to bother him at all, and I often catch him swimming with the platys and female guppies. Only one fin niping incident and it was minor..one my my female guppies decided to steal some food from him...he asn't too happy, but only a small nip on her tail, and nothing since.
