Can Anyone Tell Me What Type This Cory Is?

That could be a good call too! very similar looking i have to agree :)

i think thats definitely what xamy_valox's cory's are. i clicked a picture when googling that name, and under it also listed 'black and white' cory as a common name for it.

Haha!! Awww my little cories are causing quite a stir! So they are leucomela cories aka black and White? I have a feeling I won't be coming across them again, I'm worried incase I can't find another trilli to keep my current one company aswell as the guy in the shop said they are rare.

I might be a pain and when I can, upload a pic of my trilli and make sure that s/he is in fact a trilli and not a three lined?

And quartex 2003, Prestwood wasn't local for me really, it was a good 15 miles + I think in the end (I was wise an got my dad to drive =P) where about in Birmingham are you? I'm more Northfield/Selly Oak. I can recommend places near there if it's easy enough for you to get to?

Thanks guys by the way, despite me not knowing fully what they were they seem to be enjoying themselves in the tank and have taken the trilli under their fin for the time being! Though I think they are getting annoyed with my female guppy, she's so greedy ad follows them round as they rustle up food from re substrate for her to pinch!

i think you'll find trilli is 3 lined. 3 lined cory is cory trilineatus :good: they are easy to get hold of, one of my lfs has a constant supply, ive never been in there and not seen any.

My LFS has Trillis in a lot recently i have a lovely group of 10, sadly 1 is in my 30gal for now until i can catch her and the lone Agassizii to put them all together

Ahh I see! None of my LFS's tend to keep corys other than peppered and bronze ones. I've had to go a little further afield to get these guys.

If you went somewhere and got a fish that you are unsure wether it brought White spot into the tank, would you use the place again? I love the shop and their wide selection but don't want to get a 'bad batch' again =\

i tend to have several shops around me, i venture out at lunchtimes and have a look at the fish. i rarely buy anything that hasnt been in stock for more than a few weeks.

Hi again, here is a pic of my trilli, just to make sure it is in fact a trilli =P

I might head out back to the place where I bought this one and see if they have any in stock to keep him company.

Is 6 cories too many for a 70 litre? I was thinking of adding a couple more if I come across some more that I like OR adding one more of each to make it 3 white and black and 3 trilli?

Yay =D
He's acted a bit wired today, he's been doing what my Betta does and letting the filter drag him to the like grill bit and just chilling out there, so he doesn't have to swim kind thing? Then fluttering off and coming back =\ is this ok?
Also (sorry I know I'm a nightmare) my female guppy keeps kinda hovering round my cories, one of my black an whites in particular. It looks like she keeps bashing into him, but I can't be sure? Is she just trying to shoal with them because she's the only guppy? I got rid of my other guppies as I couldn't hack the babies, but couldn't stand to get rid of Boo (the female) as I had her from a baby when she was accidentally caught in the fish shop!
Before the cories she was tending to hang round with my harlequins, but she never seemed to get as close as she is with my cory?

I think guppies tend to like their own kind to hang out with, as I've discovered with mine. I had put a bunch of males into my 55g to take some of the stress off the filter in my 15g. I thought I'd gotten all of them out to sell to my LFS (3 hours one way) but when I got back to town and did a big water change, there was one poor guy still left!

He actually seemed relieved when he saw me come at him with the net! Practically jumped right in it and I put him back in with the other males and he seemed VERY happy.

I think you should get her a couple more females.

Just had my other trilli die on me =[ like I said, he was acting kinda wierd yesterday letting himself be sucked in my the filter. I wonder if they both just couldn't get used to my tank? My other two black and whites seem (touch wood) to be doing fine =[

it is strange. i had 6 'trillis'. i got 4 in one batch, then picked up a couple from somewhere else later on. the first 4 are still doing great, the second 2 died. funny thing is, there was very obvious differences in the markings between the 4 and the 2. the 2 that died looked exactly like yours. its hard to describe the difference, but when you put your photo next to the photo below of one of my original 4, you can see the markings look very different.

The mouths of the ones I got were very different to that. They were more on the front, than below like a typical cory? And more rounded with no moustachey bits!
I dunno =\ I think I'm just gonna get 2 more of the other type I have seeing as they seem happy enough and at least there will be more of them so they'll be even happier!
