As the title says really.

Not sure if these are L270`s or how much is a realistic price to pay for them?

You will never know for definite until there are much much older, alot of 'striped' hypan species look exactly the same at that size.

Only real way would be getting a pic of the parents or trust the seller.

270 babies at that age which will be 6-8 months ish would be between £10-£15 with an average probably been £12.50 each.

Thanks FJ, wasn`t sure because as you say they`re young and it`s difficult to tell

Thought the L270`s would probably have had more of the darker stripes than the yellow.....I thought they may have been candy stripe or a Tiger perhaps?

TBH, they could turn out to be anything, all of my stripped hypan fry/juveniles (66,333,340,260,199,129,270 etc) have and do look exactly the same so it really is a case of believing the seller or believing the seller truly thinks his adults are 270 which is tbh probably correct.

A pic of the parents would probably be better just to confirm and keep your mind at ease :good:

270's are lovely looking plecs and definitely a nice addition :)

Thanks, I`ve just asked for the guy to email me a photo of the parents. He said he`s been breeding plecs for 10 years and knows for definite that they are L270`s but will send me a pic. :)

I think ive just found the listing on ebay while browsing, well the same pic anyways lol.

He breeds 46's and a few other species if i remember correctly, ive seen him about. They is quite an experienced keeper so tbh i would be quite happy in the belief that they are 270's :).

Good luck if you decide to buy, lovely plecs as mentioned once they mature.

Thanks FJ. Yeah it was an ebay query

(I`m surprised if he`s a regular breeder of plecs that he has gravel in his tank though)

The guy sent me an mms that he said is of the mother:

I was basically happy to go with what the seller told me in his msgs on ebay too so I now have 3 new plecs coming for my tank. Just hope they`ll get on well enough with the 2 juvi bn plecs I got last week, may have to consider rehoming the bristles but we`ll see

I was originally looking for L260`s but am happy with the L270`s instead. B-)

Looks a close enough match to a 270 to me :), they should be fine with the BN's as as long as there is plenty of places to hide and able to get to food before it's all gone. Temp wise would to me be the only consideration, like most hypans low to mid 80's is ideal but a few degrees lower shouldn't be to much for concern.

Tbh on the gravel front, alot of plec keepers just prefer to keep on gravel, some bare bottom. I actually prefer sand becasue i like to make the tank quite natural (so to speak). I would actually prefer bare bottom for ease of cleaning but it really is just personal preference tbh.

Anyways im rambling yet again lol, look forward to the pics, they are a nice substitute for 260's, not quite as nice once adult but still a very very nice addition... so congratulations, you will be very happy with them.

After having a good read about L270`s the temp thing was something that I wondered about but the majority of info says 'approx' for temp so I`ll just have to keep an eye on them.

I have loads of hiding places for all the plecs, as well as for the Apistos. I have just bought some slate caves from one of the other members (tony) so along with the bogwood and the coconut shell I think there will be plenty for them.
I do have sand in my tank as when I first the forum Wills and ChilliPepper both recommended a change from pebbles to sand for the cory`s and the clown plec and if it`s better for the fish then that`s what I`m happy to do.

Bare bottomed tanks would be much easier but it just doesn`t look very nice so I agree with you. B-)
lol@rambling, not a problem as the more info and personal experiences I can get then it helps the plecs :good:

I`ll definitely post pics when I have some, I`m really looking forward to them all arriving now :D :D

All sounds good and looks like they will be going to a very good home :), again looking forward to pics :)

Not sure if you use it but planet catfish will probably the most accurate in regards to plecs. I personally like personal experiences over written articles but PC will be the most accurate around :good:

Cool pics. and congrats on the new purchase, your tank must be fairly filling up now, I can understand why you recently purchased some plecs, they are very cute and well , very addictive, I have had an albino male who is bright yellow (nearly orange) for some time now, I added a small "marbled" BN at the beginning of last week, think it's a girl, then at the end of the week I was buying water condtioner and spotted another one which again I think was a girl so home it came, 3 in the tank now, sweet, oh oh who's rambling now ?
Cool Plec you are getting, looks nice :good:
:fish:

Thanks kiriyama B-)

I`ll certainly have a few  1 clown plec, 2 bn plecs (approx 1") and then the 3 choc`s. :D
I must admit I do like plecs, I`ve had my clown for almost 2 years now and he`s really lovely, just wish he`d spend a bit more time in the open but I know it`s a characteristic of the clown to stay hidden during the day, shame tho coz he`s lovely. (well I think he`s a HE)

Can`t wait to get the chocs now, just trying to get delivery sorted as the seller works shifts. Hopefully he`s going to get his g.friend to send them on Wednesday.....I`ll post pics when I do get them though

I have had the same problem with the Albino, stays in his log all day and if I catch him out in the early hours he scuttles away in the huff, since i added the other ones (I'm really hoping they are girls) he has been a bit more active, strutting his stuff, "it's my patch , get your own place to live" attitude, the other ones really darken up when on the slate. Look forward to seeing the pics. love pics of other folks tanks and fishes :good:

I`m starting to get wound up now.......still haven`t sorted out when the chocs are going to be delivered

Asked for them to be posted Monday (yesterday), seller couldn`t as he works shifts, so asked for them to be posted today....seller couldn`t do that as it`s his day off and he`s going fishing with his friend, asked him to post tomorrow....seller can`t but would ask his girlfriend to, girlfriend can`t post them as she`s too busy, he can`t post Thursday as he`s working :S

I`ve already explained that I don`t want them posted on a Friday in case they get stuck in the postal system over the weekend, Snail mail aren`t great at deliveries on a weekend here, So........looks like I won`t get them until sometime next week now and I`m beginning to get just a little bit peed off
