I'm using my partners laptop, and cant log into paypal! When i click 'log in' I get a pop up whcih is all written in spanish, asking me for my personal and credit card details!!! The pop up is not closabale and if I click the 'submit' button on it I get another pop up thing again in spanish, telling me that Ive not filled out the form im guessing. The only way I can get rid of the pop up is to close the whole window!

I also tried to then get paypal contact details, paypal took me to a page where I had to click a 'get contact number' button (or something along those lines) but even when I click that, I again get theis spanish pop up!

I can log in fine on my own PC, so I'm assuming that its some kind of virus on the laptop? He has no anti-virus on it, and there is no scanner as far as I know.. so how do I go about getting rid?

Which URL are you going to? Sounds like something else, pretending to be paypal. Try typing https://www.paypal.com/ into the address bar.

Have you checked for viruses?

Also try https://www.paypal.co.uk/uk (Paypal redirect to this from https://www.paypal.com themselves, for UK customers).

Ive tried that one too, still the same happens. And I've used the house call programe from Trend micro to check for viruses, but id didn't find anything :(

This doesn't sound safe at all, paypal won't have anything like that connected to there site. I wouldn't enter any bank details into your laptop until you've solved this issue

No, I cant see it being anything to do with pay pal.. for a start its all in spanish! I had to use google to figure out that it was asking for basically all the details required for someone to shop online at my cost!

I'm not sure where any kind of virus would have come from tho, I'm far from an expert at these things, but this laptop is only used for this forum, a mum and baby forum, facebook, and checking email pretty much. I never download anything, and certainly dont click links from facebook!

Are there any online scanners that I can use? I dont really want to buy a virus scanner for this laptop if I can help it!

Here is a screen shot of the pop up!

This is easy to fix, all you need to do is:

No está seguro de lo que dice google lo tradujo para mí

:) sorry could not resist.

At the bottom of the paypal page is should have links to different languages, just click English.

If that does not work clear out the temp internet files and try again.

i'm not so sure thats its actually from paypal, whether its spanish or english, that form asks for my name, adress, postcode, phone number, credit card number, expiry date and the 3 digit number thingy on the back! and my paypal is already set to english. I dont get this form pop up when i log in on other computers, yet when you click any bottun on paypal on the laptop this form pops up.. even if you dont type a password in!

actually, it askes for my credit card 'Cod. Seguridad/Security Cod' that may well even mean pin number, not the 3 digit number? lol

I did get an e mail from Paypal the other day to say that when I next logged in I will be asked for some details to verify the account security. I checked this e mail with paypal to make sure it was real and they confirmed it was but it never came up when I logged in, so it is prob ok but to be safe e mail paypal or call them and find out.

ven if it WAS from paypal.. theres no way I can fill it in anyway! I know whats its asking for by getting vague googles translations, but I cant even put my actual address in because a couple of the fields are drop down bars with a list of spanish places! Ive tried changing the language at the bottom, but it still comes up in spanish no matter what language its set to!

Also I cant get any contact details for paypal because no matter what I click on paypals website, all I get is this form pop up.. like I said.. even if I dont put any log in details in. I dont have access to my main computer at the mo to log in and get an email address or phone number!

So, paypal have assured me thats its absolutely nothing to do with them, and they have never heard of such a pop up!

Any ideas what I can do to get rid of whatever is causing it? :(
