Can anyone help us identify what this lump is please and how we best treat?

looks like a tumour and there's no cure. euthanise the fish when it stops eating or has trouble swimming.
 
Oh dear... because it came up so quickly I thought it may be treatable. I have tested the water and PH level too high so trying to correct this. Fish is active and eating at the moment so will just have to see how it goes on..
 
You can try adding salt (2 heaped tablespoons per 20 litres/ 5 gallons) and see if it helps. It probably won't but it might if it's not a tumour.
 
That looks more like a tumor than something else.
Treating this fish to get rid of the tumor ain´t an option. Sorry!
