I know he's a goldfish & I'm assuming fancy fantail? :dunno:

He's grown quite a bit recently and I wanted to do a bit or research just to see how big he will get.

Thanks

its a very lovely comet.

A Comet? Really?? I thought comets were a lot smaller :dunno:

I dont think its like yours G&M. Your one has two tails (kind of) right? This one only has one.

I went to the LFS to find another, but couldn't find one. The only ones they have "Waddle" rather than swim :p

Yes mine has lovely "fantails" and yes.......they do "waddle" as opposed to swim

Been told mine are "orandas" which (when much bigger) will develop a sort of "strawberry cap" on top of their heads

Very nice - yes, it's a comet. Single tail and elongated, torpedo-shaped so it can't be a fantail or oranda... Comets are actualy BIGGER than fancy types. It can get to be 12".

Cool, Comet's they are! :p

How long do they take to grow to 12". the reason I ask is because I want another 1 or 2 and they are in a 1' tank

george and ade, you have from the top a calico fantail, to the right of that a telescope but better side on pic needed. dead centre is another calico fantail. bottom left what looks like a blue oranda but better side view is needed. right to that looks like a chocolate oranda, once again better side view needed cant see the one behind those and the two white ones are red-capped orandas. if you could get better pics of the ones im not sure of then i can get a more deffinite name.

barday a 1' tank is to small even for one fish  ,youl be very lucky for these fish to reach full size in tank conditions ,id say there more suited to a pond ,even then it will take sevral years for them to reach full size

a comet on its own needs 20 gallons at least for fin development and the fact that they are large and fast fish.

This might sound silly, but dont you think he'll get a bit lonley? Just one fish in a tank can't be a nice life :/

true gf are schooling fish and do enjoy the company of others but by the same token they do just fine on their own. my own panda is in a 16 uk gallon on his own and is ok. the choice of course is yours, if you want another then you will have to do more in the way of water changing and will need a bigger tank in a few months time. :)

Thank you Black Angel.

The only one im not sure of is this handsome looking beast

Ive got some of those comets in my pond  I think they are called sarosa comets
