Morning, I’m new to this hobby and currently in day 7 cycling my tank - all seems to be going to plan. There are no live plants but will be adding a few - currently silk plants and ornaments. I have a few of the Hugo kamishi fake moss rocks to form a pathway and switched lights on this am to find some baby plants springing up. I don’t mind them if they are not detrimental. No signs of algae. Any ideas what these are and if it is ok to leave ?
Substrate is sand (Roman fine sand). Thankyou in advance.

More than likely these are terrestrial plant seedlings and won't survive longterm. I've seen some ornaments with the fake moss on them that are "meant to sprout" like this and most seeds sold in the hobby are usually scams using terrestrial plants that won't survive long. Occasionally you get hygrophila polysperma seeds though.

Thankyou for the reply. I had checked with the shop and they aren’t ‘meant’ to have seeds or any sprouting and they said likely something already in the tank piggy backed on 🤷🏼‍♀️. If it’s not ‘bad’ I’ll let them run their course and see what happens. I’m cycling with Dr Tim’s so hoping to add fish in a week or so.

They are seedlings Im pretty sure you can see some small brown seed shells where the plants are coming from.

I'm wondering if its water cress seeds.
