Can Anyone Correctly I.d. My Catfish?

or having looked at the hemibagrus nemerus, it is possible that the initial id was correct
hemibagrus_nemurus_albino.jpg

What size is the fish?
the fish is about 8" now. but i am 99% sure it is a a.a.r.t.c. someone please give me that last 1%! the fin behind the dorsal and the long flowing part of the tail are identical.

To be honest I don't believe I've ever seen an albino Asian red tailed catfish, but just by looking at it I'd have to say its the Hemibagrus nemurus. The downward sloping of the mouth is more identical as opposed to the more rounded straight mouth of the Asian red tailed catfish.

the nemurus is the asian redtail cat. now you've done it, now im confused.

No, the Asian red tailed catfish is Hemibagrus wyckioides and gets 37.4" long. The Hemibagrus nemurus has no common name and gets 25.6". Click on each of the links. It will show you several pictures of each and information on them. Planetcatfish.com even mentions the downward sloping head of the Hemibagrus nemurus. Same genus, but totally different fish and species. I think your fish is the Hemibagrus nemurus.

Hemibagrus nemurus, common name none:

Deffinately a H.nemerus, the albino form is quite common in the hobby and is mass bred in Asian fish farms.

The way to tell Bagrid species from Ictalurus and Pimelodus species is the presence of nasal barbels (the small whiskers on the top of the snout) which are not present on either Ictalurus or Pimelodus species
