Can any tropical fish live in colder water?

They have lots of tropical fish, and are probably far less diseased than Pets at Home, (although, the only problem i saw there was a larger goldfish stuck behind the pipe in there. It was alive) They also do reptiles, so I'm very hopeful

Just curous as to what grounds you consider that diseased?

and be especially aware of anywhere that sells reptiles...just because they sell specialist pets doesnt mean they have specialist knowledge!!!!

Danios can tolerate cool water but cant really be kept in a tank that size, neither can the minnows. they are very active fish.

a betta with a GHOST shrimp and a couple of ADFs could be a good combo but make sure you do your research on them first especially the ADFs. Most pet shops won't know much about them, if even if you find somewhere that stocks them.

By diseased I mean tanks with dead fish in them, and generally unhealthy looking fish. And I didn't consider the stuck goldfish nessecarily disease, it was just stuck. It wasn't dead though.

Hello OohFeeshy. Not sure about shops in Pompey itself I'm afraid. I actually live on the Gosport side of the harbour. My LFS is quite good for basics but is small and limited. I also use Abbey Nurseries (a local garden centre in Titchfield) with a fish section which is very good. Cold water, tropical and marine and all the foods and accessories you could want. Their marine display tank is beautiful. Bridgemary Aquatics is suppposed to be good (the owner demands a tank water sample before selling a fish) but I haven't tried it personally. None of which are handy for Pompey itself unfortunately. There are probably local clubs that may provide guidance on good shops and poor ones.

I hope one of them has some ADFs on Monday because I'm itching to get them.

Slyspy-
In Pompey, in Arundel Road, a pet shop called Arundel Averies and Aquatics (I think but its near that). They do frogs, but I'm not sure about ADF's, I wasn't looking. They had other species though, and axelotls ( :alien: the alien lizardy things)

I believe that axelotls are a type of newt. They can get at least a foot long, so avoid them. What I would do is get a divider, 2 bettas and 2 ADF's, and put a frog and a betta on each side of it.

I'm 13 too, and my mom tries to pressure me into buying angels and silver dollars for my 10g, but I talk her out of it.

lol I don't want an axelotl (unless I go really mad and buy a huuuge tank  ) and I don't want to divide. If I can get a heater (thank god, i paartly managed to convince my dad the tank is baaad for goldies) then I will get a betta and see what frogs, crabs etc. they have at the other pet shop.
EDIT- Duh! I forgot the Aquatic Centre in Kingston Road! It's only a 10 min walk away!!!! :fun:

Cheers OohFeeshy that might come in handy if I can't find ADFs nearer home.
