Calling all betta experts

i have a lovely smaller betta, he's sooo different than the lfs mutts or my crowntail. was wondering if he's a particular type and what type that is? he's a bit smaller than my others, he looks like a crowntail whose loose ends where snipped off (though he's symmetrical, so i know it wasn't a fight or fin rot or anything).
here's a shot, not the best example of him, but the only shot i have on the computer, let me know what you experts think:

looks like "delta" (bordering on superdelta) to me. the edges are a little choppy but nice nonetheless

hmmmmmm, delta. will look for some examples and compare him. he sort of looks like a halfmoon when he actually flares (thats a shot of him not flaring by the way), but not quite the full 180 the description say it should be. maybe he's a weird cross. i picked him up off the shelf with the mutts at a chain pet store.......

Looks like a delta, but it doesn't look like he's blown a full spread - so that means he may be a super-delta or even a halfmoon!

Yeah, I picked one up like that when there were about only 20 or so cups left out of the normal 150. I couldn't believe my luck how so many could pass over him! But it was probably due to his tail looking 'short, choppy, and stiff' when compared to the many veiltails.

his choppy look with the crowntail like rays was half the reason i scooped him up. that and my crowntail is a similar color so i thought it was be neat to have the two side by side........
