Calling All Bangii Keepers!

so are moonlights just blue lights? what purpose do they serve?

Arent bangaiis nocturnal? So if its slightly light he might be too scared... or your face scares him :p

Bangaii's are nocturnal.

Moon lights are generally LED's or cathode's, blue or white, your choice, 50/50 looks best though.

not this face
but my little brother did run over to look and you should have seen how fast he went :hyper:
they are more octernal

blue LEDS that replicate the effect of....... you guessed it moonlight  this is beneficial as it can give the fish a more natural light cycle. some people go as far as replicating entire phases of the moon and also sunrise and sunsets, i cant be arsed tho

well with the moonlight LED's you can put them on say an hour before lights out and it will give the fish a bit of transition between full on lights and sudden darkness, also it will give you a nice subdued light for watching at night or if for example the tank was in your bedroom and you didnt want full on lights before dropping off, i'm going to get a strip of blues for moonlight and a strip of reds for when i want to watch the spooky stuff :ninja: no more messing with winegum torches

Haha I got rid of the wine gum, its now a bisto gravy lid  much more sophisticated...

I wanted some kind of red light on there for viewing the nasties! :D So those cheap ones in the link are ok to use? Just seems really cheap. Does that get added on to the lighting time, so if I want lights for 8 hours it would be 6 of halides 1 hour either side for those? Or not included? Sorry Im being dumb

as far as i know you need to allow for them in your photoperiod as its still usable light. if you do go for the leds check that the strips come with a transformer as you cant just plug them in, some people even use mobile phone chargers as a transformer for them. from what i remember those really cheap ones dont have transformers as they are actually more for boy racers to tart up their cars and just have 2 bare wires. and you aren't being dumb, you just dont know about them, like i dont know about makeup

Now now Im sure I read about your alterego somewhere...

Ha I wouldn't of even know that they needed something to plug them in! I would much rather have my halides on for the extra hours lol! But maybe I will get some just to be cool ;)

Thank you
