california outlaws gloFish

Thank god, is all I can say to that. At last some people have demonstrated why restraint is needed before releasing mutant fish into peoples homes. I was beginning to lose faith in human reasoning.

Thats great then. I am completely against the whole fish genetic thing.

yeah starnge that california was the first to do it when so many of the people there are artificial enhanced :p

lol fishgeek

I thought a member here said that they were already for sale at their lfs in California  ,I wonder what happens now at the shops that already stock them -_-

>>> so many of the people there are artificial enhanced

That cracked me up - nice.

Another image that sprung to mind was a shady street corner and some guy whispering to another, "grass, crack, glofish?"

Oh come on, it's not strange that California is the first to do this. If it's strange at all......it's California.

Feeders anyone?

Well, seeing as I was already going to the LFS, I thought I might cop a quick survey among the predators hanging around:

Oscar 1: "mmmmmm beer um.. I mean..foooooood"

Oscar 2: "No way man, get that junk outta ma tank, they should label that s*$%
so we knows what we eatin"

Red Tail Cat: "Throw em in and we'll see won't we... muwhhhaahahaahaaaaaaa"

Stingray : "I seeee, glowing eh... perhaps just a little bite, a mere snip if you will, I'll try anything once, except beef, they're mad dont you know..."

Jack Dempsey: "huh?"

actually, its expected. california has a large number of environmentally conscious people (though you wouldn't know by looking at the haze hanging over LA...), as well as animal rights advocates. its now illegal in beverly hills (not sure if any other areas as well), to have your cat declawed, vets in the area won't do it anymore because many deem it to be cruelty to cats.

wonder if any other states will see CA's banning of the fish and follow suit. many won't sell piranhas, so maybe many of those same states will decide no genetically altered fish (so far, studies claim these fish won't affect the overall fish pop. or enviroment, but you just never know................ and pet fish do have a way of finding themselves in the countries waterways)

stingrays already eat flourescent fish.
All preditors that eat zebras eat glos.
the only gene that was moved was the glogene (It's expensive to move genes).
the pigment is nontoxic.
If theye escaped it would be easier to exterminate them the regular zebras.

California is famous for it's relivent laws (dirvers licenses for ILLEGAL imegrants)

I think that most if not all of the leaders in the opposition started out not giving these people the benefit of the doubt and I started out giving it to them. And I have seen nothing to disprove it. Infact I am willing to trust them and eat one myself (when they come out).

Any opposition to that.
