Buying Pea gravel form DIY shops....

Hi everyone

As a newbie just setting up my new tank, I read on a website that I'm just as well to buy my pea gravel substrate from a DIY shop as it will be cheaper and in bigger quantities than from the LFS.

As long as I wash it out does anyone think I'll have a problem with this??

No problems whatsoever.

I have pea gravel in several of my tanks. Just be sure to get the appropriate size garvel for the fish you keep.

What about sand or do I definately have to buy this from the LFS? I want to use some small pea gravel and also sand as I will get some Peppered Corydoras which need a fine substrate (if I've read my books correctly).

Play sand from your local DIY center will work fine as well.
