Hi all,

I'm wanting to buy some good quality bettas for myself, but I've noticed that most of the popular shops around don't ship outside the US. For example, Faith at bettatalk requires shipments to be made in the US, so I can't buy bettas from her :( These people seem to be the same http://www.bettysplendens.com/

Anyone know of a place where I can get some good quality bettas that will ship to Australia?? I have found a place in Thailand called Atison Betta or something like that, but haven't heard enough about them to be confident.

Thanks,
Marty.

atison is very well known in betta circles as is wasan. both are in thailand and are a lot closer to you than american or canadian breeders.

Thanks for that :)

I think I'll buy a male and a female from Atison. He's a lot cheaper than bettatalk... I'm assuming that's because the species aren't as nice?? I still wish I could buy from Faith.

Thanks again,
Marty.

i think atison's fish are every bit (if not nicer) as nice as faith's. he is a big time thai breeder and his fish are prize winning, you pay less for his fish because he is thai. try buying a fish of his quality here in canada and expect to pay twice as much (no joke). i've been eyeing his wild bettas for a while now, impossible to get here yet he will sell for $15 a pair. shipping costs here to canada are the only reason i haven't jumped on the deal yet. ;) check out bcbetta.com for a kick, she is a canadian breeder and her fish are amazing as well.

Sweet!

I think I'll buy from him :D Thanks for other site to.

Does that mean that if I bred them I could sell the fry for that much?? (when they are an appropriate age of course). I might have trouble finding a market for them here though...

Good thing for me that the Australian dollar is so strong at the moment. He charges in US dollars :D

Thanks,
Marty

P.S. Shipping to AU isn't exactly cheap either

with aquabid now, anyone can sell bettas if they are quality (finnage, colour etc.).

Aquabid? Id that a fish buying site? Sounds like it. Thanks for the tip :)

I just tracked down Wasan (he's over at classic bettas, right?). He keeps pics of all his individual bettas - they are simply breathtaking! I've never seen such beautiful bettas!!

Marty.

I am in Sydney and there are like NO betta breeders in sydney, at least that i have been able to find. And my parents won't let me buy fish over the internet, yet...I can't wait until i go away to collage...I am nearly done with school...only like 6 months to go.

So if you find anyone who i good please tell me.
Kylie

I most certainly will :D

Right now it looks like the following are both excelent places:

www.atisonbetta.com
www.classicbettas.com

Both are in Thailand, and the fish are outstanding. I'm in a complete pickle now because I can't decide which to buy from :(

They both take paypal... So it's perfectly safe. I think you should try and tell your mum that ;)

Marty.

P.S. Any suggestions towards either of the places I posted about would be great...

Marty, you need a permit to ship into australia for starters and a quaranteen set up, unless you have a few thousand dollars spare forget importing them.

There is one guy who imports show quality bettas here in australia and he will ship to brisbane, prices are good for show quality.
He gets in HM's, SD's, CT's, Plakats, etc etc.

email me [email protected] , and ill give you details.

people outside of australia, please dont email me.
Jess

Edit: This guy wil be getting wasans bettas in shortly for the first time
I cant wait!!!

 :-( :( :-(

WAAAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!

I'm so sad... Thanks for the tip though, I have to E-mail you ASAP!

They never say anything about this on the websites

you got my pm already and faewyn has given some insite into the buying situation in aussie so i hope something works out for you. i just wanted to mention that wasan's site isn't "classic bettas" (they deal in some of his fish though). his site is actually wasan
check it out and drool ;)

Yea, I just realised that Wasans site was different :)

Thanks for all your help. There is a prob still, the person whom imports bettas into Aussie is charging $400 per fish!!!! Talk about a profit :/

Edit: That's 400 per fish of Wasans... He is selling others for about $150.
