I'm going to look at a bunch of different size tanks this evening, that are used. A lady that closed her lfs, offered me some great deals on tanks. For instance, 29G, hood light, stand, filter, and other misc. items, is $50!!! 55G complete setup $100!!! Sounds like a good deal to me, if everything is in good shape.
So my question is:
What do you look for in a used tank?
First thing I check is for cracks, chips, and look at the seals.
And, how do you tell if the seals are good? Do they get foggy or discolored when they get older?
I know that a lot of medication dyes the seals.
How about filters and such?
I just bought a used marineland c160. It is missing a couple seals, but I can buy the whole kit for $20 then the filter would be like new! That's still $40 for a nice filter, rather than paying $120 at the pet store.
How often do you have to re-seal a tank??
Thanks Megan
OH!!!! Have a fabulous weekend everyone!!!!!
