Whatever you do don't start looking at the planted tanks or Marine setups :) I have ended up with an £800 tank which houses some of the cheapest, most common fish you can get :) (and have just started buying kit for a marine FOWLR setup....)

Definitely check out your local "freeAds" as lots of people buy big tanks and then lose interest pretty quickly and just want to get rid of it again (Friend of mine got a 3ft tank with everything included for £40!)

If you want to breed then guppies, mollies and most live bearers are constantly pregnant and are very easy to breed.

Something else you might want to consider is getting a couple of smaller 5-10g tanks and breeding Betta's. You have to keep the males separate and don't breed the poor quality betta's you see at most LFS (find a local breeder to get your breeding stock from). These are very pretty fish and are a lot more interesting and involving to breed then Guppies, etc. Check out the Betta section for lots of very good info on these.

Barney : So just went to "those who should not be named" and I found it pretty poor! Their seletion of fish was few and far between and I could hardly see them!

But I did have a gander at the tanks and some of the deals im finding online are a lot lot cheaper.
Tho I will deffinatly look at second hand.I did'nt want a tank too big tho because its going to over flow my room so I think a 60 litre one would do nicely. Most of the second hand ones ive seen are pretty much the same price no matter what size thats why im keeping buying new in mind.

Thanks for the rest of the info too, breeding is something I really want to try.

p.s bought 2 fish books today for £3......... one was 101 things to know about tropical fish
