Does anyone here have land for animals or a farm? Where did you buy your Live stock from?

Be it Cattle, Pigs, Sheep, Goats, Chickens etc?

In the UK, as my friend recently moved house and has 3 acres of land spare.

:good:

Have you got any local farmers?

and start with chickens!

nope, not any local farmers here that we know of. She has 12 Chicken eggs in an incuabtor atm, but tbh i dont think they will hatch.

Do you know rough prices?

where are you based Aly? they usually have baby chickens at a place near us, its a petting farm that usually have babies all year round, ducks included i think.

i should think they sell them as they sold kittens!

Scotland, i have phoned a couple of farms i 'googled', the said in Spring Time they have the most babies, be it goats or chickens.

For the larger animals i think your friend would have to go to a farmers auction.

I wonder if there would be any animal rescue's around that have things like sheep, goats and pigs? If you call the Scotland SPCA then they may be able to point you in the right direction. There is also the Battery Hen Welfare Trust that could be very rewarding (even if your friends eggs did hatch)

Well, from when i had duck eggs in the incubator, and saw nothing after week 1 of candling, id say her chicken eggs were infertile. :look:

Actually, yes, i will look at the SPCA website. Thanks. She has emails a couple of farms aswell, but is waiting for responses.

you can get a chickens for about £3 here in lincolnshire, ASDA is cheaper than Tesco though!

seriously, you can pick chickens up for about a fiver.

If you can't find anything online it might be worth calling, they may have animals set up at foster homes because they might not be able to accomodate them at a shelter or might be able to give you some farm contacts or something

Yes, the SPCA, only rehomes... Dogs, Cats, rabbits, and small animals.

Thanks for all the help everyone! Appreciated!

Live stock auctions, I sometimes go to the local horse sales for tack and there is always a room with fur and feather in, The sites are usually used for larger animals on other days aswell.
