the main part of my button polyp/zooanthus has stay closed for 2 days now with only a few stems aorund the outside opening.

the waters testing fine, PH as usual.

there seems to be a slight ammount of white gunk hanging off in some places, the other corals in the tank are fine which includes ricordea and green star polyps.

Are there any othe corals nearby or touching it? What's the lighting and location of the frag? What's the water movement? SH

nope I only have 3 corals in the tank at the moment all well apart.

the water movement should be quite good by it as there's a spray bar from the sump which sprays over all the tank and there's no obstructions to this coral. That pump is 1200lph.

I was considering adding a smaller powerhead front right to cover the front of the rock structure more directly.

Lighting is 2 55W PC tubes, ones a 12000k white which came with the unit and the other is a Interpet TriPlus (quite pinky red)

from the picture you can see it's placement and the others, lights had only jus gone on so the other corals hadn't opened yet.

Cheers.

Paul..if your params are OK..zeros, and nitrates not too high...you may consider moving them if they stay closed.....sometimes changing lighting conditions and water movement may help. Zoos are pretty tough, so, if they close, something is bothering them. SH

strange as it's been happy there for a couple of weeks now, a few more of the buds have opened today.

where do you sugest i move it first? up/down, towards or further from lighting, left/right, towards or further from the flow?

More light? try moving them up? Mod to high light with medium flow. Nitrates still OK? SH

I'll test nitrates a bit later tonight but now my star polyps aren't opening. I only did a water change few nights ago though so should be fine.

I'm not happy with the flow from the sump at the moment so might try upping the power of that pump, I'ved just cleaned out the pump which seems to of speeded it up a bit.

I forgot to bring home a power head from work today though.
