Are we talking about the actual plec or the loach that is often called the same thing?

Plec info can be found.... HERE!!

You should find all the info you need within that link, anything else please ask and either I or others will help as best we can :)

No its nothing like that one, in lfs it is down as a butterfly plec "fully grown at 5inch/cm (cant remember which)"

Ill try to find a pic then people can mb identify it for me.

It looks something similar to these:

could be the loach, it sticks to the surface of everything like a pleco does

Yeah it's a loach also known as a hong kong plec, borneo sucker, butterfly plec etc etc.

They prefer cooler waters and a nice fast flow with the water been very oxygenated. Many keep these in a general community tank so they seem to adapt very well.

Yes! it is the hong kong plec thanx!
So it would be ok in a community tank?
The guy at the LFS said they are like ottos at aclimatising (quite risky)are they like ottos or rather more like corys?

I have pygmys and a male betta, would a few be ok atm?

Hong Kong plecs are Hillstream Loach, a subtropical species that requires extremely high 02 levels and a good amount of flow/current, they should be kept at no higher than 22C (ideally around 18-20C) and therefore require a totally opposite setup to that of a betta

Oh right thanx, ive got a tank with white clouds in might think about changing to sand and mb get a few.

So this is what they are! P@H sell them as butterfly plecs, weirdly.

Does anyone know if they would be OK with smooth gravel and firebellied newts?
