I'ved read ryans fish index bit on them but I'll looking to keep it with my crayfish and move the scissor tails to my other tank as I gather it would eat them.

My main question is what it there best temperature range as the crayfish like it slightly cooler and have it at 73 although i could go a bit higher if need be.

It's my 22g that is 30x12.

I have cobomba thats reached the surface now and I'll add some floating plants and more high growing plants.

Even 73 f is a little high for a crayfish, really they should be kept at room temperature with no heater in the tank. African butterfly fish need to be kept warm and preffer the heat to be up in the high 70's.

Fish and crayfish dont really mix and should always be kept seperately, at some stage the crayfish will eat the fish or at least nip them.

Sorry CFC but i am gonna have to disagree.
I think butterfly fish would be fine with a cray.
Crays are bottom dwellers.... but if something catches their eye they will go for it, but butterfly fish is to fast. I think they would be fine.

As with everything it is only my personal opinion. I wouldnt keep a fish with our crayfish as i know it would eat them sooner or later.

I realise the risk of it, my scissor tails have done fine so far, they'ved gone pretty close the crays quite afew times now but they have done nothing!!

So what is the ideal temp for the butterfly fish...aprox.??

The optimum temperature for ABF should be between 76 and 80f.

Cheers, I'm also asking on a crayfish forum saying that my cherax quads would be ok at the higher 70's!!

thanks for the help.
