Could someone please help me out? I just got a new (well used, new to me) 38 gallon tank with penguin biowheel filter. I had only filled the tank to within about 5 inches of the top to leave room for plants, fish, etc. I thought I'd fill whatever needed in later. This morning I think the filter couldn't get enough water and it wasn't putting water out. I shut it off, filled the tank and filter and tried it out. It seems to be working fine, but the smell, though faint, is still there. Is this a hazard, or do you think I was lucky in catching the problem before the motor died out, and the smell will need to wear away? I'm scared to burn the house down because of a stupid thing............Thanks in advance, Margaret

If the smell goes aways it is probably OK but I would still find it hard to have 100% confidence in it, especially at night when I'm sleeping. :zz

Electrical appliance + burning smell + house = bad :oh:

Thanks, that's what I was thinking, too................
Guess I'll need to look for a new one.

Margaret
