Hi all,

I'm not much up on plecs and i wanted to buy one for my fry tank. So i went into my LFS and saw these cute little rubber mouths so i asked if they eould be happy in an 80degree tank with tiny fry and filter and he said yer sure they only stay tiny and will be fine. so i bought him. Any way i thought i would do some research on my new lil guy and see what else i could find out. Well the site i went onto said they prefer cooler temps like 72degrees and they get to about 10".

So is he any good for my fry tank? i have currently moved him into a cooler tank (i did let him get used to the temp by floating him before letting him go) with one of my Betta until i know what he needs.

Cheers

No way 10", 5" max! Yes they prefer cooler temps, no more then 26c is needed and really well oxygenated water (shouldnt conflict with fry needs).

Agreed unless you have Chaetostoma sp. rio paushiyaco which i HIGHLY doubt.

and yes they prefer cooler, well oxygentated water with a high current

Hmmm well he might end up on his own then coz my fry tanks have no filter and no current and run high at 28+. My bettas tanks are no good as they are only run on spongefilters so again no real water movement and none are aireated as bettas are surface breathers. Guess he could go in my 5.5' but i would never see him lol

Thanks for your replys guys
