building a tank - any tips?

Hi ya everyone,

I've not had much experience with keeping fish, but for my arts degree i have decided to build a large fish tank focusing on internal sculpture etc. I know it all sounds a little strange... Basically I'm aiming to make the tank 1m sq with a cut out in the middle of 40cm sq. so you can stand around and in the tank (well obviously not in the tank, but u know what i mean. Because of the shape, i'm going to have to make the tank myself... which i have never done before.

Does anyone know of any websites that might help me with guidelines, what materials to use, etc?
Or have any suggestions/tips that might help me?

very knew to the fish keeping thing, but quite excited about continuing after the project is finished...

are u gonna make it a wierd shape, or you going with the rectangle?

thick glass and aquarium sealer and do it right or else the rooms gonna be a pool

have you looked into plywood aquariums, seem cheaper and easier to build i think

wowzas. I take it if your tanks water drops below the opening of the highway then the highway empties its self all over your house?

The fish highway thing is incredibly cool... much better than the plans for my tank.. but hey, its the first try.
