I've build a small pond filter in a recycle box a little while ago and it is working
but it doesn't have the capacity that I require for my pond (+/- 5000 liter)
I have bought a brand new garden dust bin on a boot sale for £5.00 and I'm
planning to build my new pond filter in that.
One thing is kinda bugging me at the moment though.

I want to use standard 32mm and 40mm waste pipe but can I use the "normal" glue
for that or will that kill my fish, plants and everything else in the pond?

This is the type of filter that I'm going to build

I've got a decent size pump for it to now (max 3600 lph)

Hi All, first post.....

I am also looking at building a similar Bucket type bio filter.
I predict I will have one problem though.
Like the one in the video my intake hose will go from the pumd (located in the pond) to the 'bucket' where it will attach to a plumbing pipe that will direct the water to the bottom of the bucket and squirt it out obviously filling the bucket. My thought is that when the pump turns off (solar powered), as the bucket is located higher than the pond, what is stopping the water being sythoned back through the intake hose emptying the bucket into the pond?

Thanks for any help with this before I spend a cupple of hours on the weekend building the filter.
