Hi I couldnt sleep tonight so I have gotten up to go downstairs, upon switching on my light to the tank I found what seems to be hundreds of minute creatures walking around on the glass. They seem to be around a patch of hair algae and purple algae at the front. Does anyone know what these are? They are shaped like tiny woodlouse with the biggest probabbly no more than 1mm and the smallest a 10th of that size. I am presuming that these are good and some fish probably eat them, however they are the first of this type in a relatively new tank so I dont want to take any chances. Any help appreciated, thx.

PS I would take a picture but they probably wouldnt show up.

Copepods. Wonderful food supplements for grazing fishes. I don't think they have much use other than that

Thx, they are the same colour and basic concept as that pic but they are slightly different. They are the same width all the way up, if that makes any sense. That pic shows it get fatter towards the head where as mine are just the same width right the way up. I'm presuming that the pic is a copepod? Mine is prob just a different type of the same creature. Thx.

PS it would appear these are only making their way to the glass after lights out. Presumably running around in the sand all day which is why I havent seen them before.

One last thing, are these the kind of things a scooter blenny would eat as I want to get one but I am worried about the feeding or whether the tank is mature enough at 6 weeks to have enough small food sources for one.
