Help! Does anyone have a clue about my Molly?
Tank is healthy, had water tested tonight.
Staff at Petsmart has never seen anything like this.
Water is great, other fish are fine!
Seems like this fish has been going through this for over a week now, it really got worse yesterday.
PetSmart suggested I purchase something for an infection in the tank but I read that you shouldn’t just treat tank if you don’t know what you’re treating it for.

Hi and welcome to the forum :)

They are cysts. There is nothing you can do to treat it. I would euthanise the fish and try to figure out why it happened.

You should also do a 75% water change and gravel clean the substrate each day for a week.
Make sure any new water is free of chlorine/ chloramine before it is added to the tank.

Clean the filter if it hasn't been done in the last 2 weeks.

----------------------
How long have you had the fish for?
When did the lumps first appear?
Did you add any new fish just before this started?
Do you add any chemicals, medications, anything to the tank?

No, nothing new at all. About one week ago it started. Water was tested this evening. Everything is good, perfect actually.
I did put stress zyme four days ago.
This fish was a baby that was born in March. It’s about 2 months old.
It was odd originally. Only one baby was born. It was quite surprising
This was the baby

I’m assuming there’s no way out of this then for the fish...
he isn’t dangerous to the other fish is he?

If there has been nothing new added to the tank, then I would say the fish was genetically unwell at birth and this is the result.

Cysts are not contagious and as long as none of the other fish eat the sick fish, there shouldn't be any problems. The best thing to do is euthanise the fish and do a big water change each day for a week just to make sure there are minimal disease organisms in the water. Then monitor everyone for the next couple of weeks. Do not get anymore fish for at least 2 weeks (preferably 4). If everyone is good in a month and no other fish have developed the same problem, then it is a genetic defect in the fish.

If anymore fish do develop the problem, then post pictures immediately.

Ok so I woke up this morning and the cysts have all flattened. This happened last week. I thought it looked like a “bump” and two days later it was flat. This morning everything flattened out again.
I don’t want to euthanize him if he’s fighting through it and not a danger to the other fish.
He was swimming like crazy this morning and I was shocked to see him looking almost normal

If the cysts have gone then they popped during the night. Each of the wounds that are left behind can get infected. I don't like killing fish but the fish should be euthanised. Imagine having big cysts on your body and having them pop while you sleep, Then a week later more appear. This is going to take its toll on the fish and will eventually kill it. Please put it down so it doesn't suffer.
