Ok so my new Betta of two days has started a bubble nest in his tank :D
But im wondering how can I go about doing a water change without disturbing it? is it even possible and will he be pissed if I do mess it up?

You can't do a change without disturbing his nest and to be honest.. getting rid of it will give him a chance to make another one.. mine do all the time :) it wont hurt his feelings :p and it gives him somethin to do again

bumping this but ive long since moved my betta into a 15gal with some corys, plants etc etc
But ive noticed he now builds a bubbly nest everyday and its pretty large(to me anyway) maybe 3"x3"

He will blow some bubbles, swim off and do a "patrol" going in and out of the plants and around the tank, swim back and flare at his reflection then swim up and blow more bubbles :D Oh and there's no floating plants or anything yet so he builds them off the side of the tank and works outwards.

Is it a good sign he is happy and healthy like ive read? and is it healthy for him to flare?

I destroy most of mine with the daily water changes, it take them about 15 mins to start building again, keeps them active

We have a few that will build nests all the time but by far the best is our dragon PK who will cover almost the entire surface, whereas others will build smaller but much thicker nests.

I try to be gentle when doing water changes but they soon have them back again and like Modaz said it keeps them active and occupied which is always good :good:

yeah building bubble nests is a sign he's happy.. they do it when they feel secure in their home.. and its good to flare with a mirror once a day for 5 mins or so.. its like a work out.. :) mine love it.. I;ve got Fred flaring at my thumb now :p and miagia too ^^ :)
