My betta doesnt blow bubble nests. He lives with several other fish, whom he flares up at, and they run, but hes never harmed them. He eats normally, active and i dont see anything unusual except the absence of the bubble nest. And, YES, i said HE, not HER.

Is there a lot of movement on the water surface? They generally need a more quiet spot without too much movement to start a bubble nest, I think.

My betta doesn't make bubble nests either.

I have no doubt that Ruby  is happy and healthy. But then, he thinks he's a cory. He actually spends more time toward the bottom of the tank than the top.
