Bubble Nests

Ok so I realised last night that neither of my males builds the same style bubble nest! one builds a large thin one and the other builds a small but thick one!

What style nests do your bettas build?

Well, I've noticed the around the rim of the bowl bubbling, the standard type and then the underneath the IAL type.

My personal favorite, my yellow STM is the "I can't make up my mind WHERE to build one, so I'll just build one everywhere" type of boy. Last round of spawning attempts he had built one in every corner (one corner had the largest), under the cup, under a leaf, in small clumps on top of the collection of plants, around the girl's holding tank, around the heater, and pretty much here, there and everywhere. Unfortunately, the female was not as impressed as I was with this set up............ Oh well, boys will be boys. Silly bettas.

MAM that is one busy little bee you have I wonder if he's after as many females as he can? or he could just have that compulsive disorder (cant remember the name)! EIther way he sounds really happy

My two boys sound like yours Natsuko. Jerry seems to make thin ones that cover a large area while Rio's are thick and compact.

Obsessive Compulsive disorder, commonly called OCD. I agree MAM, that betta of yours is quite Monkish. One of my guys from Synirr builds the cutest little one, very compact. While Siegfried, a VT, builds very huge ones. Most of my other bettas kind of suck at it.

Yeah that was what I was thinking OCD! I think I have a sieve for a brain lately!

I think its great how each betta has its own style when it comes to nest building!

My guy Jimmy builds wide thin ones that cover half the tank I have a 20 gallon long (that at the minute he has all to himself and he's LOVING it) and he works at them like a fiend I'll have to try to get a pic for you guys
