Why isnt my male building a nest again? He had one and it got it destroyed. How to hav it so he builds it again

maybe hes jus not happy? sometimes they dont build them

He'll build one again eventually. They don't have them constantly. My males can go for a month or more without one and all the sudden after a water change I'll wake up and see an inch high monster nest. A few of my males have never built one. And my greeny boy ALWAYS has one. Just depends on the betta. :dunno:

Are you trying to breed him? Or you just want him to build a nest in his own little tank? My guys don't always build nests either, some nights they do, other they don't, guess it just depends on their mood.

Haha thats what I do to my GF when she cleans my room and doesn't do it good enough, I destroy it and make her do it again. just kiddin

Ditto what Wuv said...the female usually does destroy the bubblenest in my spawns. Don't worry, there doesn't HAVE to be a bubblenest when they start spawning, if there isn't one, he'll build it while they spawn. There have been many succesful spawns without bubblenest prior to the actual embracing.

Give us a bit more info as to what you're doing, is the female in with the male yet? what size tank are you using? What's in the tank? How long have they been together (if they are together yet). Is this your first spawn attempt? Plenty of people here who can help you if you're new to this :)

 Spat_si I do the same thing with my gf too. lol j.k.

i figured it out now. i needed to pt plastic wrap over the top so it made it more of an air tight seal. I woke up this morning and it was giant. The bubbles kept popping was the problem. im going to release hert now because the have been able to see each other for about 2 weeks now.

Well they have been in with each other since i posted that and they seem not to care that each other are there. Whats going on with them? I cant tell if she has vertical stripes because she is a pinkish white

Lighter females don't get stripes. Is he building a nest at all? Is she hiding in the plants?

She'll hide until she's ready or until he invites her over to inspect his work. Or are they just swimming around like nothing's happening?

Does the male show an interest in the female when he sees her? (flaring) If not, then that's a problem. If it's just the female that isn't interested and is hiding, that is pretty normal, it could take them a couple of days or even longer before they decide to spawn. As long as they're not killing each other, leave them in and let them be. Also, what temp do you have the tank? Having it warmer than they are usually helps to promote spawning, having it set at about 82F is good.
