I have 6 cute little julis and love them because they are so active and fun to watch (and fun watching them watch me LOL) , so when I saw bronze cory cats I picked them up (3).

What a waste.....all they do is hide in a cave and NEVER COME OUT unless its meal time. Is this normal for bronze cory cats?

I wanted fish that would be a good addition to my tank, I wanted fish I could watch....
... I should have gone with the albinos

Sorry is I sound mean, I'm just very frustrated at the moment.

Hi cherrybarbbaby :)

The behavior of your new bronze corys is not at all usual. How long have you had them? How big are they?

If you just got them, give them a good looking over to be sure they have no visible signs of finrot or anything else that could be physically wrong. It's not unusual for them to get bacterial infections due to the stress involved with being shipped around and getting moved from one tank to another.

On the other hand, it could just be because they are new and have to adjust to their new habitat. Look in on them in the evening and after you turn out the light on your tank. If they are more active then, just have a bit more patience with them and give them time to get used to things.

I usually recommend them to people as a first cory cat, just because they are so playful and fun. If yours are healthy, I think it will just be a matter of time until they start acting like you expect them to.

Please let me know how they turn out.

Hi Inchworm!!!

This evening I came home and One of my bronze cories was dead it had no "signs" of sickness so I don't know what could have caused it
I've had them for about 3 weeks

They will dart to the top of the tank for air (like a missile ) and go back and hide in the cave.

After I turned the lights off One came out and laid on top of the cave and the other stuck its head out of the cave a little. My tank is very active w/the tiger barbs, maybe they are a little spooked by them?

:/ Thanks for the advice, and I will try to be more patient!

I'll keep you posted.
